Structured networks

Structured networks are the wiring mode in which all voice / data sockets are connected to a central patch panel, from where it can be determined exactly how these connections will be used. Each socket can be connected (via the patch panel) to a network switch (mounted in the same rack) or to a bridge patch panel to a PBX phone, thus making a connection to a voice port / data.

Structured cabling has the following subsystems:

Entry is the building’s interface with the outside world.
The telecommunication cabinet contains the data and telecommunication equipment that connects the horizontal cabling subsystems to the backbone.
The backbone transmits the signal between the input devices, the cameras and the telecommunication cabinets.
Horizontal wiring is the cables from the telecommunication chambers to individual (on the same floor) outlets.
